I am Almita Phillips, a native New Yorker, and avid lover of everything Black!

I have always challenged myself to be a conscious consumer, doing more than just patronizing the local Black-owned take-out spot. So I lived on “Buy Black” blogs. I quickly found that the businesses are out there, but the information I needed in order to support them was spread out over thousands of pages, posts and mentions. And who has time for that?

So I started my own personal list of businesses who sold both products and services. I found everything from bed linens to bonnets to midwives to moving companies, all Black-owned. The list got extensive, so I began categorizing and cataloging, unknowingly giving birth to a Black business directory. Untap Black is emerging to be the most intuitive and fastest growing online Black business directory around.

I am on an endless quest to discover Black goods and talent, and to keep my community in the know.
